Title: Sanders and Trump
Published: Ventura County Reporter
Date: Oct. 15, 2015
About this cartoon: Two unlikely and polar-opposite candidates for president, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, have livened up the presidential race considerably. Sanders, a self-described "democratic socialist," is forcing Hillary Clinton to confront substantial issues on the liberal side, while the bombastic Trump has been uttering wild, offensive statements that shock most people yet keep him atop the polls on the Republican side. Nonetheless, the two men are not identical bookends; Sanders has a grip on economic justice and social reality, while Trump seems unfettered from any sense of real life for the average American (or, for that matter, unfettered from truth in general).
